Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Youth and Sports Tourism Office in the Development of the Creative Economy as a Driver of the Tourism Sector in Pesisir Selatan Regency. The background of this research is that several problems were found, such as the lack of interest of business actors in developing creative industries, limited public and institutional knowledge and capital in developing creative economy businesses, limited raw materials, not many professionally managed art studios. The type of this research is a quasi-qualitative research with descriptive method. Informants in this study were determined using a purposive sampling technique, namely determining informants with certain considerations that were deemed to be able to provide maximum data. The authors obtained this data by conducting interviews, observations, and documentation studies using interview guidelines and recordings. While the analysis techniques used are notes, transcripts, coding, categorization, themes and memos. Based on the results of research and discussion of the role of the Youth and Sports Tourism Office in the Development of the Creative Economy as a Driver of the Tourism Sector in Pesisir Selatan Regency, it has not run optimally. The implementation of the role of the Youth and Sports Tourism Office in Pesisir Selatan Regency has not been maximized because various obstacles are still encountered in the field.
